Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk: Bilbao/Getxo - Gassen von PortugaleteThis Saturday (July 18th) marks the second annual Worldwide Photo Walk, with photowalks taking place in hundreds of cities around the globe. While there are contests and prizes associated with the photowalk, the real value can be in the networking and interaction with other photographers from a variety of backgrounds in your area. Most of the photowalks last a couple hours and are followed by a meal or happy hour opportunity to chat about photography.

Find a photowalk near you and join in the fun.

Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk is the largest social photography event around – last year over 32,000 photographers participated in over 900 photowalks around the world.
Worldwide Photo Walk LogoThe photo walk is a great opportunity to meet other photographers (both amateur and pro) in your area. During the couple hours of photography, you’ll meet new people, see how they shoot, and probably learn a thing or two. Walk leaders are encouraged to end the walk at some sort of social venue where participants can share their photos, talk about photography, and perhaps have a drink or such. Participants can enter their best photo into a contest with both local and worldwide prizes available.

It’s a lot of fun and a nice learning opportunity.

If you’re in the Vancouver (Washington) or Portland (Oregon) areas, I’d love to have you join me for the walk I’m leading in downtown Vancouver.

The PalazzoIn a few weeks, hundreds (thousands?) of bloggers and social media professionals will gather in Las Vegas for Blog World Expo. There’s a great program lined up with all sorts of information just waiting to be shared. I’ll be there, participating in the main Blog World program along with the WordCamp: Las Vegas that’s being held on the expo floor.

There’s an informal Blog World photowalk being organized for Thursday night. Given that I love to photograph Las Vegas at Night, I’ll definitely be joining the group. If you’re a photographer at Blog World, I’d love to meet you. Leave a comment below or drop me an email and let’s get together and chat about photography and social media while we’re in Vegas.
