This Saturday (July 18th) marks the second annual Worldwide Photo Walk, with photowalks taking place in hundreds of cities around the globe. While there are contests and prizes associated with the photowalk, the real value can be in the networking and interaction with other photographers from a variety of backgrounds in your area. Most of the photowalks last a couple hours and are followed by a meal or happy hour opportunity to chat about photography.

The photo walk is a great opportunity to meet other photographers (both amateur and pro) in your area. During the couple hours of photography, you’ll meet new people, see how they shoot, and probably learn a thing or two. Walk leaders are encouraged to end the walk at some sort of social venue where participants can share their photos, talk about photography, and perhaps have a drink or such. Participants can enter their best photo into a contest with both local and worldwide prizes available.
